Top 10 Slot Machine Myths

Many slot machine players know that quite a few of the common myths about slot machines are false.  The most common slot machine myth is that slot machines do have predetermined win and loss cycles.

There are lots of myths regarding slot machines.  Thus, whether you are a new player to slots machines or a veteran slot player, here are some facts, really slot machine myths, that you should know before you start playing the slot machines again.

Myth #1 - It used to take three 7s to win the jackpot on a slot machine. Now, on some machines, three 7s pay only a small amount, so the casino can make more money.  This is false.  The odds of winning a jackpot have remained the same; only the icons representing a jackpot have changed.

Myth #2 – Slot machines that have not had a payout in awhile are due a win.

This is false.  Slot machines have a random number generator and produce numbers or icons completely at random to determine the results on the reels. The random number generator program ensures that a slot machine is just as likely to produce another win right after a big payout.

Myth #3 – If a player plays at a slot machine long enough and studies its results, they can figure out a pattern to the slot machine.  Thus, payouts can be determined and when the slot machine is likely to hit again.

Just like in the myth #2, this is highly false.  There is no pattern to the payouts due to the random number generator.

Myth #4 – The more coins a player puts in a slot machine increases their chances of winning.

This is false.  However, the number of coins you place in a machine will affects the AMOUNT of your payout and not the odds of winning.

Myth #5 - A player is close to actually hitting a jackpot if a slot machine that the slot player is playing shows a near miss on the reels of hitting a jackpot.

Once again, this is a myth.  Remember, the slot machines use the random number generator program to make sure that each spin has no relation to the next spin.

Myth #6 -  Online casinos are not interested in low rollers.  To get comps, you have to bet big money.  Think again!  Most slot players both online and who play at land based casinos are low rollers.

Myth # 7 - If as player play several slot machines at a time, their chances of winning are increased.

This is a big lie.  A slot machine player’s chances of winning on each machine are the same.  Remember, each machine uses the random number generator program.  This myth only lets a slot machine player to go through their money quicker.

Myth # 8 –  You do not need to concentrate when playing a slot machine.

Although slot machine strategies do exist, they do not work, slots do require concentration.  There are many different types of slot machine games and each game has their own rules.  Also, although the online casino software automatically pays out, however the online casino program can not monitor your spending.  Thus, you might overspend your predetermined bankroll.  Thus, keep the distractions to a minimum, even if you are playing the slot machine at home!

Myth #9 - If you use a slot machine strategy, you can beat the house.  Slots are different than card or table games and require little strategic skill.  Once again, slot machines use a random number generator program.

Myth #10 - If you use your online casino slot club card, then the machine will pay back less.

This myth is, in my opinion, the most damaging myth of them all.  Contrary to popular thinking, there is no link between the card reader and the random number generator program.  If you do not use your slot club card, you are denying yourself valuable comps and sometimes cash back from the casino.

Finally, make sure you only play with what you can afford and while you can give full concentration. When you reach the limits you set yourself, stop playing.
